Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council Sick Pay Fund Contribution Rates:
 

Weekly paid Members

 
The employer must deduct an amount equal to 0,09% of the weekly wage of the member.
 
 
Example:
 
1) An employee earns a weekly wage of R2,000 of which 0.09% is R1.80.
2) An employee earns a weekly wage of R4,500 of which 0.09% is R4.05.

The member's weekly contribution remains the same, irrespective of the hours worked, until there is a change in the member's basic rate of pay.
 
 

Monthly paid Members

 
Employers must deduct an amount equal to 0.09% of the monthly salary of the employee.
 
 
Example:
 
1) An employee earns a monthly salary of R10,000 of which 0.09% is R9.00.
2) An employee earns a monthly salary of R18,500 of which 0.09% is R16.65.
 
 
Employer
 
Employers must pay an amount equal to that deducted from the member.
