The jurisdiction of the MEIBC covers all firms, which fall within the scope of registration of the metal and engineering industries. By law, those companies are required to be registered with the MEIBC.

The registration process, which is handled by an MEIBC agent visiting the company, briefly involves the following requirements:-

• Completion of a registration form;
• An explanation of the company's compliance requirements under the Main Agreement;
• Details of the benefit funds contributions and returns; and
• Details of levies payable to the MEIBC and the monthly return.

The firm will then be registered on the database of the MEIBC.
